Abstract

Motiv izrade diplomskog rada na ovu temu bio je upoznavanje sa trenutnim stanjem i
potencijalom tehnologija za dobivanje pitke vode iz mora. Naglasak je dan na tehnologije
koje se zasnivaju na postupku zaleđivanja.
Dobivanje pitke vode iz mora postupkom zaleđivanja, ili kraće desalinacija zaleđivanjem,
temelji se na činjenici da se kristali leda sastoje uglavnom od čiste vode. Dakle, kristalizacija
je polazna fizikalna osnova ove tehnologije. Desalinacija zaleđivanjem može se podijeliti na
tri osnovna procesa: dobivanje, pranje i topljenje leda. Prednosti koje desalinaciju
zaleđivanjem čine atraktivnom u odnosu na ostale postupke su: teoretski manji energetski
zahtjevi, nije potrebna prethodna obrada vode, minimalni problemi s korozijom te
jednostavnost i dostupnost procesne opreme. Unatoč navedenim prednostima, desalinacija
zaleđivanjem još uvijek nije uspiješno komercijalizirana. U ovom radu je detaljnije
razmotrena ideja, razvoj i potencijal ovog procesa. Prikazane su prednosti i nedostatci svakog
dijela procesa i procesne opreme. Na kraju je analizirana ekonomičnost i perspektiva
desalinacije zaleđivanjem.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this graduation thesis has been to explore the current status and development
potential of technologies for obtaining drinking water from the sea. Special emphasis is
placed on technologies which are based on the freezing process.
The production of drinking water from the sea by process of freezing, or in short: freeze
desalination, relies on the fact that the ice crystals are composed mainly of the pure water.
Thus, crystallization is the starting physical base of this technology. Freeze desalination can
be divided into three basic processes: obtaining, washing and melting of ice. Advantages, that
make freeze desalination more attractive, compared to other procedures are: theoretical lower
energy requirements, no needs of pre treatment of water, minimal corrosion problems,
simplicity and availability of process equipment. Despite these advantages, freeze
desalination has not yet been successfully commercialized. This paper has examined more
closely the idea, development and potentials of this process. Advantages and disadvantages of
each part of the process and the process equipment has been displayed.
At the end, the economical perspectives of freeze desalination was analyzed.
