Abstract

Cilj ovog rada je sintetizirati i okarakterizirati fotokatalitičke materijale, bizmutov vanadat (BiVO4) i titanijev (IV) oksid (TiO2) te ispitati njihovu učinkovitost za razgradnju farmaceutika, ciprofloksacina (CIP), pod utjecajem Sunčevog zračenja te pod vidljivim dijelom spektra Sunčevog zračenja. U radu je dan detaljan pregled fotokatalize kao naprednog oksidacijskog procesa za obradu voda, njene značajke i prednosti nad konvencionalnim procesima obrade voda. Jedan od najvećih problema u zaštiti okoliša su organski spojevi u koje se ubrajaju i farmaceutici koji se nalaze u industrijskim otpadnim vodama i drugim vodenim resursima te je upravo proces fotokatalize prikazan kao rješenje vezano uz pročišćavanje voda onečišćenih farmaceuticima. Rad sadrži opis sinteze BiVO4 materijala, metode i rezultate karakterizacije te provedbu eksperimenata razgradnje odabranog farmaceutika CIP-a sa odabranim i referentnim fotokatalizatorima BiVO4 i TiO2. Razgradnja CIP-a fotokatalitičkim procesom je pratila brzinu reakcije prvog reda. Najbolji rezultati dobiveni su pri uvjetima pH=8 gdje je uklanjanje u sustavu TiO2/solar doseglo 77,0 %, a u sustavu BiVO4/H2O2/solar više od
82,0 %.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this study was to synthesize and characterize photocatalytic materials, bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) and titanium (IV) oxide (TiO2) and to examine their effectiveness for the degradation of pharmaceutical compound, ciprofloxacin (CIP), under solar or visible light irradiation. The study gives a detailed overview of photocatalysis as an advanced oxidation process (AOP) for water treatment, its features and advantages over conventional water treatment processes. One of the biggest problem in environmental protection are organic compounds, which include pharmaceuticals found in industrial wastewaters and other water resources and the process of photocatalysis is presented as a solution related to the purification of water contaminated with pharmaceuticals. The study contains a description of the synthesis of BiVO4 material, methods and results of characterization and the implementation of experiments of degradation of the selected pharmaceutical CIP with selected and reference photocatalysts BiVO4 and TiO2. Degradation of CIP by a photocatalytic process followed the first order reaction rate. The best results were obtained under pH=8 conditions where the removal in the TiO2/solar system reached 77.0 %, and in the BiVO4/H2O2/solar system more than 82.0 %.
