Abstract

Elektrovodljivi polimeri su organske i anorganske molekule nastale polimerizacijom određenog monomera ili njegovog derivata. Njihova povijest seže još u 19. stoljeće kada se prvi puta spominju polianilin i polipirol i metode njihove sinteze. Za razliku od ostalih polimera imaju električnu vodljivost sličnu metalima i poluvodičima. Električna vodljivost elektrovodljivih polimera temelji se na prisutnosti konjugiranih dvostrukih veza i uklanjanjem elektrona iz valentne vrpce oksidacijom (p-dopiranje) ili dodavanjem u vodljivu vrpcu redukcijom
(n-dopiranje). Mogu se sintetizirati elektrokemijskom ili kemijskom oksidacijskom sintezom. Najpoznatiji elektrovodljivi polimeri su polianilin, polipirol, politiofen, poli(3,4-etilendioksitiofen) i njihovi derivati. Primjenjuju se kao korozijska zaštita i antistatički premazi, u baterijama, LED diodama, senzorima, zaslonima, aktuatorima, ali i u raznim područjima biomedicine gdje imaju značajnu ulogu u unaprijeđenju biosenzora, bioaktuatora, raznih proteza, sustavima za isporuku lijekova i brojnim drugim grana biomedicine.

Abstract (english)

Conducting polymers are organic and inorganic molecules formed by the polymerization of a particular monomer or its derivatives. Their history dates back to the 19th century when polyaniline and polypyrrole were first mentioned and methods of their synthesis also. Unlike other polymers, they have an electrical conductivity similar to metals and semiconductors. The electrical conductivity of conducting polymers is based on the presence of conjugated double bonds and the removal of electrons from the valence band by oxidation (p-doping) or addition to the conductive band by reduction (n-doping). They can be synthesized by electrochemical or oxidative chemical synthesis. The best known conducting polymers are polyaniline, polypyrrole, polythiophene, poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) and their derivatives. They are used as corrosion protection and antistatic coatings in batteries, LEDs, sensors, screens, actuators, but also in various fields of biomedicine where they play a significant role in improving biosensors, bioactuators, various prostheses, drug delivery systems and many other branches of biomedicine.
