Abstract

Svrha ovog rada bila je proučiti i obraditi vrste korozija koje se javljaju na implantnim materijalima na bazi titanija i njegovih legura. Titanij i njegove legure široko su korišteni u medicinskim implantatima zbog visoke biokompatibilnosti i izvrsnih mehaničkih svojstava, ali ponajviše zbog visoke korozijske otpornosti. Različitim se tehnikama obrada i površinske modifikacije nastoji spriječiti korozija i poboljšati kemijska svojstva i otpornost implantnih materijala. Usprkos tome i dalje se javljaju korozija i habanje te dolazi do razgradnje materijala koja dovodi do migracije iona i oslobađanja čestica metala koje izazivaju upale i druge komplikacije u tjelesnim tkivima. Korozija titanija i njegovih legura značajno ovisi o okruženju u kojem se implantat nalazi, odnosno o tjelesnoj tekućini koja će okruživati taj implantat. Iako titanij i njegove legure pružaju visoku korozijsku otpornost, dobre su biokompatibilnosti i dalje postoji potreba za istraživanjem boljih materijala kako bi se spriječili rizici citotoksičnosti, korozije i povezanih upalnih reakcija tjelesnog tkiva.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this paper was to study and analyze the types of corrosion that occur on implant materials made of titanium and its alloys. Titanium and its alloys are widely used for production of medical implants due to their high biocompatibility and excellent mechanical properties, but primarily because of their high corrosion resistance. Various surface treatment methods and surface modification techniques are used to prevent corrosion and improve the chemical properties and resistance of implant materials. However, corrosion and wear still occur, leading to the degradation of materials, ion migration, and the release of metal particles that cause inflammation and other complications in body tissues.
The corrosion of titanium and its materials significantly depends on the environment in which the implant is placed, particularly the body fluid surrounding the implant. Although titanium and its alloys provide high corrosion resistance and great biocompatibility, there is still a need for development of improved materials to prevent the risks of cytotoxicity, corrosion, and associated inflammatory reactions in body tissues.
