Abstract

Stopa uspješnosti upotrebe titanija za dentalnu primjenu ovisi o sposobnosti integracije okolnog koštanog tkiva s površinom implantata. Iako se titanij i njegove legure odlikuju jedinstvenom kombinacijom kemijskih, fizikalnih i bioloških svojstava zbog kojih titanij predstavlja ''zlatni standard'' među materijalima za izradu dentalnih implantata, ipak postoje čimbenici i uvjeti u kojima samo njegova odlična svojstva, kao što su otpornost na koroziju, inertnost, netoksičnost i biokompatibilnost, nisu dovoljna. Tako zbog kombinacije korozije, mehaničkog opterećenja i bakterija može doći do odbacivanja implantnog materijala. Brojnim dugogodišnjim istraživanjima u in vitro i in vivo uvjetima pokazalo se kako je potrebna dodatna modifikacija površine titanija u svrhu boljih sveopćih karakteristika i učinkovitosti unutar ljudskog tijela. Cilj ovog rada bio je istražiti elektrokemijska svojstva nemodificiranog titanija u simuliranoj fiziološkoj otopini (otopina umjetne sline) i usporediti ih sa svojstvima titanija kojemu je površina modificirana anodnom oksidacijom provedenoj u fosfatnom puferu. Ispitivan je utjecaj parametara anodne oksidacije (vrijeme i potencijal anodizacije) na konačna elektrokemijska svojstva titanija pod realnim uvjetima primjene. Elektrokemijske tehnike koje su korištene za ispitivanje elektrokemijskih svojstava titanija su: ciklička voltametrija (CV), linearna polarizacija (LP) i elektrokemijska impedancijska spektroskopija (EIS).

Abstract (english)

The success rate of titanium for dental applications depends on the ability of the surrounding bone tissue to integrate with the implant surface. Although titanium and its alloys are characterized by the unique combination of chemical, physical and biological properties that make titanium the 'gold standard' among dental implant materials, there are still factors and conditions in which its excellent properties, such as corrosion resistance, inertness, non-toxicity and biocompatibility are not enough. Thus, due to a combination of corrosion, mechanical loading and bacteria, implant material can be rejected. Numerous years of in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that additional modification of the titanium surface is required for better overall performance within the human body. The aim of this study was to explore the electrochemical properties of unmodified titanium in simulated physiological solution (artificial saliva solution) and to compare them with the properties of titanium modified by anodic oxidation performed in phosphate buffer solution. The effect of anodic oxidation parameters (time and anodization potential) on the overall electrochemical properties of titanium under real application conditions has been investigated. The electrochemical techniques that have been used to test the electrochemical properties of titanium are cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear polarization (LP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
