Abstract

Pomoću izvora gama zračenja u Laboratoriju za radijacijsku kemiju i dozimetriju (LRKD) Instituta Ruđer Bošković (IRB) tretiran je pribor za pušenje iz fundusa Muzeja za umjetnost i obrt. U ovom radu opisana je primjena radijacijske metode u svrhu dezinsekcije i dezinfekcije u zaštiti predmeta kulturne baštine od biodegradacije. Biocidni učinak zračenja zasniva se na svojstvu zračenja da uzrokuje kemijsko oštećenje molekula DNK bioloških zagađivača u svim stadijima životnog ciklusa. Najvažniji parametar prilikom ozračivanja je apsorbirana doza zračenja, koja se mora pomno odabrati za svaki pojedini predmet, a njezin izbor ovisi o materijalu od kojega je predmet izrađen.

Abstract (english)

Using the source of gamma radiation in Laboratory for radiation chemistry and dosimetry of Ruđer Bošković Institute, smoking accessories from the collection of the Museum of Arts and Crafts have been treated. This paper describes the radiation method used for disinfestation and disinfection in protection of cultural heritage objects from biodegradation. The biocide effect of irradiation treatment is based on the ability of radiation to cause chemical damage to DNA molecules of the biological pollutants in all stages of their life cycle. The most important parameter during irradiation treatment is the quantity of adsorbed energy, i.e. the adsorbed dose of irradiation, which has to be chosen carefully for each object and its value depends on the type of material the object is made of.
