Abstract

Korištenje polimernih materijala neizbježno je u svim današnjim aspektima industrije i poljoprivrede. Time je prekomjerno omasovljenja proizvodnja plastičnog otpada koja uzrokuje ekološki poremećaj na globalnoj razini. Otkrićem zamjenskih biorazgradivih komponenata nastoji se nagomilavanje istog svesti na minimum uz zadovoljavanje energetskih i potrošačkih uvjeta. U ovome je radu ispitana biorazgradivost polilaktida (PLA) uz dodatak otpada taloga kave procesom kompostiranja. Ispitani su kompoziti različitog sastava polilaktida i otpada taloga kave, odnosno čistog polilaktida u adijabatskim reaktorima radnog volumena 1 L tijekom 19 dana. Udio otpada taloga kave u pripremljenim kompozitnim filmovima iznosio je 5, 10, 15 i 20 mas.%. Praćen je gubitak mase i nastale morfološke promjene materijala tijekom procesa kompostiranja svjetlosnim mikroskopom te promjena temperature unutar reaktora. Kompozit s najvećim udjelom otpada taloga kave pokazao je najbolje rezultate biorazgradnje obzirom da je zamijećena najveća promjena mase uzorka i najnepravilniji oblik rubova uzorka u odnosu na uzorak čistog polilaktida koji nije pokazao nikakve promjene nakon provedenog procesa kompostiranja. Budući da je otpad taloga kave bogat ugljikohidratima i predstavlja izvor hrane za mikroorganizme, kompozitni materijali s većim udjelom otpada taloga kave podložniji su biorazgradnji.

Abstract (english)

The use of polymeric materials is currently inevitable in all aspects of industry and agriculture. This is an over-massive production of plastic waste that samples global environmental disruption. The discovery of substitute biodegradable polymer components seeks to reduce the same awareness to a minimum while meeting energy and consumption conditions. In this paper, the biodegradability of polylactide (PLA) with the addition of spent coffee grounds by composting was investigated. Biocomposites of different composition of polylactide and spent coffee grounds, ie pure polylactide in adiabatic reactors with a working volume of 1 L during 19 days were investigated. Mass fraction of spent coffee grounds in the prepared composite films was 5, 10, 15 and 20 mass %. During the composting process, the mass loss and temperature change inside the reactor were monitored. The morphological changes of the material were also monitored with a light microscope. The biocomposite with the highest mass fraction of spent coffee grounds showed the best biodegradation results, considering that the largest change in the mass of the sample ana the most irregular shape of the edges of the same sample were observed compared to the pure polylactide sample, which showed no changes after the composting process. Composite materials with a higher proportion of spent coffee grounds are more susceptible to biodegradation since the residue is rich in carbohydrates and presents a food source for microorganisms.
