Abstract

Proizvodnja polimernih materijala u stalnom je porastu zbog njihove široke primjene kao posljedice dobrih svojstava i pristupačne cijene. Za razliku od prirodnih polimera, sintetski polimeri nisu biorazgradljivi pa je, zbog kratkog životnog ciklusa određenih polimernih proizvoda, pronalaženje metoda za njihovo učinkovito zbrinjavanje postalo izuzetno važno. Da bi se kvalitetno zbrinule velike količine polimernog otpada, potrebna je dobra suradnja državnih institucija i industrije, edukacija potrošača i dobro organiziran sustav gospodarenja otpadom. Ovaj rad daje pregled o najjednostavnijem načinu oporavka polimernog otpada - mehaničkom recikliranju. Ono se provodi toplinskom obradom materijala koja uključuje procese taljenja i ekstrudiranja. Sam je postupak isplativ jer se potrošnja energije uvelike smanjuje u odnosu na potrošnju za proizvodnju novog. Rad donosi uvid u metodiku i problematiku navedene vrste recikliranja te se komparativno prikazuje razina kvalitete recikliranih i originalnih polimernih materijala.

Abstract (english)

The production of polymer materials is constantly increasing due to their wide application as a consequence of good properties and affordable price. In comparison to natural polymers, synthetic polymers are not biodegradable, so due to the short life cycle of certain polymer products, finding methods for their efficient disposal has become extremely important. In order to efficiently dispose the polymer waste, high-quality cooperation between state institutions and industry, consumer education and a well-organized waste management system are required. This work provides an overview of the simplest way of polymer waste recovering - mechanical recycling. Mechanical recycling is carried out by heat treatment that includes melting and extrusion processes. The process itself is energy efficient because the energy consumption is greatly reduced in comparison to the consumption required for the production of new material. This work studies the methodology and issues related to this type of recycling and compares the level of quality of recycled and original polymer materials.
