Abstract

Ovaj rad daje pregled primjene poliuretana (PU) u biomedicinske svrhe. Poliuretani predstavljaju veliku skupinu sintetskih polimernih materijala s karakterističnom uretanskom -NH-CO-O- skupinom u strukturi. Struktura segmentiranog blok kopolimera sastavljena od blokova „tvrdih“ i „mekih“ segmenata pruža im širok raspon karakteristika od elastičnosti gume do čvrstoće i trajnosti metala. Zbog mogućnosti prilagođavanja fizičkih svojstava i dobre kompatibilnosti s krvlju, PU zauzima značajno mjesto u biomedicini za izradu proteza i implantata, od umjetnog srca, vaskularnih proteza, stentova i pacemakera u liječenju kardiovaskularnih bolesti, do obloga za rane, maksilofacijalnih proteza, umjetnih grudi, primjene u kontracepciji i drugdje. U radu je opisan način dobivanja PU, njegova struktura kao i svojstva PU te mogućnosti njegove primjene u biomedicini.

Abstract (english)

This work provides an overview of polyurethane (PU) biomedical applictions. Polyurethane is the general name of a family of synthetic polymer materials that contain the urethane groups (-NH-CO-O) in their chemical repeat structure. The structure of a segmented block copolymers composed of blocks of "hard" and "soft" segments which provides PU a wide range of characteristics from rubber elasticity to strength and durability of a metal. Due to the possibility of adapting physical properties and good blood compatibility the applications of PU in biomedicine is very significant as prostheses and implants, from artificial hearts, vascular prosteses, stents and pacemakers in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases to wound dressings, maxialfacial prostheses, artificial breasts, applications in contraception and elsewhere. In this work the way of synthesis, structure and properties of PU as well as possibility of PU biomedical applications are described.
