Abstract

Temeljni problem fizike čvrstog stanja je tumačenje makroskopskog ponašanja kristala u smislu konstanti koje karakteriziraju strukturna rešetka i međusobne interakcije između parova atoma kristala. Takvo ponašanje najbolje karakterizira teorija elastičnosti kristala koja vrlo dobro opisuje odnose naprezanje-deformacija, daje vrijednosti i smisao konstantama elastičnosti, ali i puno više od toga. Ovaj rad pokušava suvislo prikazati činjenice koje povezuju prirodu atomskih vibracija unutar kristala s općenitim karakteristikama elastičnih deformacija i širenjem valova unutar kristala. Kod primjene teorije elastičnostima u kristalima također se nameće pitanje, koja od teorija je točnija, praktičnija i općenito bolja za korištenje, te u kojim uvjetima. Starija teorija naziva se klasična, dok je nova poznata kao opća teorija elastičnosti. Vrijednosti, ali i sam broj konstanti elastičnosti, kojima se opisuje elastično vladanje kristala, ovisit će o vrsti kristalnog sustava, simetriji sustava, temperaturi, te o drugim raznim faktorima.

Abstract (english)

A fundamental problem of solid state physics is to interpret the macroscopic behaviour of crystals in terms of constants characterising the lattice structure and the mutual interactions between pairs of atoms of the crystal. Such behaviour is best characterized by theory of elasticity in crystals, which describes the stress-strain relations very well, gives values and meaning to the elastic constants, but also so much more than that. In this review, an attempt is made to coherently present the facts relating to the nature of the atomic vibrations inside crystals, and the general characteristic of elastic deformations and wave-propagation inside crystals. When applying the theory of elasticity in crystals, the question arises, which one of the theories is more accurate, more practical and generally better to use, and under what conditions. The older theory is called classical, while the new one is known as the general theory of elasticity. The values, but also the number of elastic constants, which describe the elastic behavior of crystals, will depend on the type of crystal system, system symmetry, temperature, and other various factors.
