Abstract

Vodikova veza jedna je od nekovalentnih interakcija,jača od van der Waalsove sile, a slabija od kovalentne i ionske veze. Kroz povijest se definicija te interakcije sve više mijenjala i razvijala jer je pobuđivala sve više interesa. Otkriće i definicija vodikove veze objasnili su mnoge fenomene i njezina važnost postajala je sve jasnija. U ovom radu opisana je uloga vodikove veze u važnim biološkim molekulama kao što su DNK, proteini i enzimi. Bez tih molekula život ne bi bio moguć,a za njihovu stabilnost i funkcionalnost velikim je dijelom zaslužna upravo vodikova veza. Procesi kao što su formiranje dvostruke uzvojnice DNK, sekundarne strukture proteina i kompleksa enzim-supstrat mogući su zbog vodikove veze.

Abstract (english)

The hydrogen bond is one of the noncovalent interactions, stronger than the van der Waals force and weaker than the covalent and ionic bonds. Throughout the history, the definition of this interaction has changed and evolved more and more as it has aroused more and more interest. The discovery and definition of the hydrogen bond explained many phenomena and its importance became increasingly clear. This paper describes the role of the hydrogen bond in important biological molecules such as DNA, proteins, and enzymes. Without these molecules, life would not be possible, and their stability and functionality are largely due to the hydrogen bond. Processes such as the formation of a double helix of DNA, the secondary structure of proteins, and the enzyme-substrate complex are possible due to the hydrogen bond.
