Abstract

Biobutanol se dobiva tzv. ABE (aceton-butanol-etanol) fermentacijom, a njegovo izdvajanje iz fermentacijske smjese je energetski vrlo zahtjevno zbog četiri destilacije potrebne da se razdvoje produkti fermentacije. U ovom radu simulirana su tri različita procesa separacije proizvoda ABE fermentacije; base case proces, proces sa sintetiziranom mrežom izmjenjivača topline i proces s integriranom dizalicom topline. Cilj ovog rada je bio vidjeti koji od ta tri procesa ima najmanje godišnje troškove. Simulacije procesa su rađene u programu CHEMCAD. Kao optimalan proces izabran je proces sa sintetiziranom mrežom izmjenjivača topline.

Abstract (english)

Biobutanol is produced by ABE (acetone-butanol-ethanol) fermentation and it's recovery is a very energy intensive process because four distillation columns are needed in order to seperate fermentation products. In this paper, three different distillation processes of ABE fermentation broth were simulated: base case process, heat exchangers network synthesis – HENS process and process with integrated heat pump. The aim of this paper was to see which of these three processes has the least total annual cost (TAC). Simulations were made using CHEMCAD. Process with heat exchangers network synthesis proved to have the lowest TAC.
