Abstract

Porast životnog standarda, modernizacija i sve veća kupovna moć stanovništva stvaraju sve više otpada kojeg je važno kontinuirano i adekvatno zbrinjavati jer upravo njegovo deponiranje na odlagalištima postaje sve rizičnije i ekonomski neodrživo. U neposrednoj okolini naselja i gradova, odlažu se velike količine otpada koji ima izrazito nepovoljan učinak na zdravlje ljudi i kvalitetu života na tim prostorima. Problem otpada nije samo njegovo zbrinjavanje, već i niz čimbenika poput skupljanja i odvoza otpada, procjenjivanja i ponovne upotrebe. Danas se razvijaju različite metode obrade otpada, recikliranja i odlaganja kako bi se smanjio pritisak na već ionako prenatrpana odlagališta. Otpad se može iskorištavati na različite načine kao na primjer razvrstavanjem i recikliranjem na izvoru ili spaljivanjem. Energija dobivena iz otpada predstavlja djelotvorno rješenje kojim bi se istodobno riješili velikih količina otpada na odlagalištima i potrebe za konvencionalnim izvorima energije. Postupak prerade komunalnog otpada, pod nazivom mehaničko – biološka obrada (MBO), kao osnovni zadatak ima reducirati potencijal otpada kojeg je potrebno zbrinjavati. Otpad iz kućanstava, otpad koji dobijemo u različitim sektorima, a koji je po svojem sastavu i svojstvima sličan otpadu iz kućanstava i otpad koji nastaje brigom o javnim površinama nazivamo komunalnim otpadom.

Abstract (english)

The rise in living standards, modernization and the increasing purchasing power of the population create more and more waste. It is important to continuously and adequately dispose the waste of, because its depositing in landfills is becoming increasingly risky and economically unsustainable. Large piles of waste are dumped in the immediate vicinity of settlements and cities, which has an extremely unfavorable effect on people's health and the quality of life in those areas. The problem of waste is not only its disposal, but also a number of factors such as collection and removal of waste, evaluation and reuse. Today, various methods of waste treatment and recovery such as recycling and disposal are being developed in order to reduce the pressure on the already overcrowded landfills. Waste can be used in different ways for example we have sorting and recycling at the source or incineration. Energy obtained from waste represents an effective solution that would simultaneously solve large amounts of waste in landfills and the need for conventional energy sources. The process of municipal solid waste processing, called mechanical-biological processing (MBO), has as its basic task the reduction of potential of the waste that needs to be disposed of. Waste from households, waste that we receive in different sectors, and which in its composition and properties are similar to waste from households and waste that is created by taking care of public areas, we call municipal solid waste.
