Abstract

Polietilen (PE) jedan je od najpoznatijih polimera današnjice s vrlo širokim spektrom primjene. Zbog dobrih mehaničkih svojstava, dobre prerade i fleksibilnosti primjenjuje se za izradu ambalažnoga materijala za prehrambene, farmaceutske, tekstilne i druge proizvode. Međutim, veliki nedostatak polietilena je nemogućnost njegove razgradnje u prirodi, što utječe na onečišćenje okoliša. Umiješavanje prirodnih punila i vlakana ne povećava samo biorazgradnju polietilena i time smanjuje njegov negativni utjecaj na okoliš, već ga čini i ekonomski isplativijim zbog lake dostupnosti i obnovljivosti prirodnih vlakana. Cilj ovog rada bio je ispitati utjecaj udjela rižinih ljuskica i punila mikro TiO2 na mehanička svojstva biokompozita linearni polietilen niske gustoće (LLDPE)/rižine ljuskice (RLJ). Pripremljeni uzorci biokompozita sadržavali su 10, 20, 30, 40 i 50 mas % rižinih ljuskica. Uzorci su pripremljeni umiješavanjem u Brabender gnjetilici, a mehanička svojstva ispitana su na univerzalnoj mehaničkoj kidalici. Na osnovi dobivenih rezultata može se zaključiti da se dodatkom i povećanjem udjela RLJ smanjuju mehanička svojstva u odnosu na čisti LLDPE. Dodatakom 10 i 20 mas. % RLJ porastao je Young-ov modul u odnosu na čisti LLDPE, povećanje udjela RLJ dovodi do smanjenja Young-ovog modula. Prekidna čvrstoća i prekidno istezanje se smanjuju dodatkom RLJ. Dodatakom 5 mas % mikro TiO2 dolazi do povećanja Young-ovog modula za čisti LLDPE i LLDPE/RH/TiO2 biokompozite dok su se vrijednosti prekidne čvrstoće i prekidnog istezanja smanjile.

Abstract (english)

Polyethylene (PE) is one of the best known polymers with a very wide range of applications. Due to its good mechanical properties, good processing and flexibility, it is used for the production of the packaging materials for food, pharmaceutical, textile and other products. However, a major drawback of polyethylene as synthetic polymer is its inability to decompose in nature, which greatly affects environmental pollution. Mixing PE with natural fillers and fibers increases the biodegradation of PE and reduces its negative impact on the environment, but also makes it economically viable because of the availability and reproducibility of natural fibers. The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of the content of rice husk and filler micro TiO2 on the mechanical properties of biocomposites linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) / rice husk (RLJ). Prepared biocomposites contained 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% wt. of rice husk. The samples were prepared by melt compounded in laboratory Brabender mixer and the mechanical properties were measured by universal mechanical machine. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the incorporation of the RH into the LLDPE decreased the mechanical properties of the neat LLDPE. The results showed that the addition of 10 and 20 wt. % of RH increased the Young's modulus in the biocomposites. While increasing RH content in LLDPE biocomposites resulted in an decrease of the Young's modulus, as well as in the tensile strength and elongation at break. The addition of the TiO2 increased Young's modulus of the neat LLDPE and LLDPE/RH/TiO2 biocomposites and decreased tensile strength and elongation at break.
