Abstract

Ovim radom razvijen je mjerni sustav za praćenje koncentracije etanola u tekućem agregatnom stanju uporabom održivih materijala i postojeće tehnologije. Odabrani digitalni konverter karakteriziraju visoka osjetljivost i linearnost što ga čini idealnim za uporabu u sustavima gdje je potrebno detektirati male promjene kapaciteta. Mjerno osjetilo se sastoji od kapacitivno digitalnog konvertera (CDC), planarno postavljenih vodiča (elektroda), polimernog izolatora i mješavine etanola i vode kao dielektrika. Promjenom volumnog udjela etanola mijenja se kapacitet kondenzatora, što je ujedno analitička informacija. Određivanje dimenzija elektroda provedeno je u MatLab-u kako bi kondenzator imao maksimalnu osjetljivost u koncentracijskom području od 0 do 60 vol. % etanola, pritom zadovoljavajući ograničenja komercijalnog integriranog kruga. Kao model kondenzatora korištene su aproksimativne jednadžbe kapacitivnosti planarnih vodiča a vrijednosti dielektričnih konstanti za različite koncentracije etanola preuzete su iz literature. Može se zaključiti da je danom tehnologijom moguće izraditi vrlo precizne senzore koji bi mogli naći primjenu u kemijskoj i biotehnološkoj industriji.

Abstract (english)

Through this study a cost-effective sensor for monitoring the concentration of ethanol in the liquid state has been developed using sustainable materials and existing technology. The selected digital converter is characterized by high sensitivity and linearity, which makes it ideal for use in systems where small changes in capacity need to be detected. The sensor consists of a capacitive digital converter, planarly placed conductors (electrodes), a polymer insulator and a mixture of ethanol and water as a dielectric. Changing the volume fraction of ethanol changes the capacity of the capacitor, which is also analytical information. Electrode sizing was performed in MatLab to give the capacitor maximum sensitivity in the concentration range of 0 to 60 vol. % Ethanol, while meeting the limitations of the commercial integrated circuit. Approximate equations of capacitance of planar conductors were used as a capacitor model and the values of dielectric constants for different ethanol concentrations were taken from the literature. We can conclude that with the given technology it is possible to make very precise sensors that could be used in the chemical and biotechnology industry.
