Biorazgradnja kompozita na osnovi linearnog polietilena niske gustoće (LLDPE) i rižinih ljuskica (RLJ) bakterijama Bacillus cereus i Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Abstract

Danas se u cilju zaštite okoliša sve više provode istraživanja vezana uz razvoj novih, biorazgradljivih i za okoliš prihvatljivih materijala koji se mogu dobiti iz prirodnih izvora poput celuloze, kolagena, svile ili pamuka. Celuloza je najatraktivniji prirodni polimer zbog njezine dostupnosti, obnovljivosti, biorazgradivosti i netoksičnosti. Cilj ovoga rada bio je pripremiti biokompozite na osnovi linearnog polietilena niske gustoće (LLDPE) i rižinih ljuskica (RLJ) i ispitati njihovu biorazgradnju u bakterijama Bacillus cereus i Pseudomonas aeruginosa na različitim hranjivim podlogama ( hranjivi bujon i hranjivi agar) tijekom 30 dana. Čisti LLDPE te biokompoziti LLDPE/RLJ s udjelom rižinih ljuskica od 10 i 50 mas. % pripremljeni su u laboratorijskoj Brabender gnjetilici. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su naznake biorazgradnje jedino kod kompozita s 50 mas.% rižinih ljuskica, dok je za ispitivanje biorazgradljivosti čistog polimera i kompozita LLDPE/RLJ s 10 mas.% rižinih ljuskica potreban duži vremenski period inkubacije.

Abstract (english)

Today, to protect the environment, investigations are related to the development of new, biodegradable and environmentally friendly materials that can be obtained from natural sources such as cellulose, collagen, silk or cotton. Cellulose is the most attractive biopolymer due to its abundance, renewability, biodegradability and notoxicity. The aim of this study is to prepare a composite of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and rice husk (RH) and examine their biodegradation on bacteria Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa on various growth media (nutrient broth and nutrient agar) over 30 days. The neat LLDPE and LLDPE/RH biocomposites with rice husk content of 10 wt% and 50 wt% were prepared in laboratory Brabender mixer. The results indicated only biodegradation of LLDPE/RH biocomposite with 50 wt%, while longer incubation period is required to examine the biodegradability of the neat LLDPE and LLDPE/RH biocomposites with 10 wt%.
