Abstract

Energija je resurs koji utječe na svaki aspekt života i ključna je za opstanak modernog svijeta. Izvor energije u nuklearnim elektranama je toplina dobivena nuklearnom fisijom, dok je gorivo uran. U ovom radu opisat će se različite metode proizvodnje nuklearne energije te utjecaj nuklearnih elektrana na čovječanstvo i okoliš. Opisani su osnovni termodinamički procesi potrebni za razumijevanje energetskih sustava nuklearnih elektrana. Analizom stvarnih tragičnih primjera poput Černobilske katastrofe lakše se razumiju rizici i opasnosti nuklearnih elektrana i radioaktivnog otpada kojeg proizvode.

Abstract (english)

Energy is a resource that affects every aspect of life and is vital to the survival of the modern world. The source of energy in nuclear power plants is heat obtained by nuclear fission, while the fuel is uranium. This paper will describe different methods of nuclear energy production and the impact nuclear power plants have on humanity and the environment. It also covers the basic thermodynamic processes required for understanding nuclear reactor power systems. The analysis of real-life tragic examples such as the Chernobyl disaster makes it easier to understand the risks and dangers of nuclear power plants and the radioactive waste they create.
