Abstract

S povećanjem proizvodnje i primjene pesticida, u zadnje vrijeme raste i zabrinutost o njihovim potencijalnim štetnim utjecajima na ekosustav u cjelini. Otpadne vode, u kojima se nerijetko mogu pronaći pesticidi, pročišćavaju se brojnim metodama. Kao alternativa klasičnim postupcima nameću se napredni oksidacijski procesi. Jedan od tih procesa jest i heterogena fotokataliza. Cilj ovog rada je istražiti fotokatalitičku razgradnju neonikotinoida u vodenoj otopini. Kao modelna komponenta korišten je acetamiprid, široko korišten insekticid. Eksperimenti su provedeni u anularnom suspenzijskom reaktoru s recirkulacijom reakcijske smjese, koristeći modificirani TiO2 katalizator i UV-A lampu kao izvor zračenja. Prema planu eksperimenta, ispitan je utjecaj pH (4, 6, 8), koncentracije onečišćivala (2, 6, 10 ppm) i mase katalizatora (0,04, 0,06, 0,08 g) na konverziju ispitivanog onečišćivala. Tijek razgradnje acetamiprida praćen je pomoću tekućinske kromatografije visoke učinkovitosti. Iz dobivenih eksperimentalnih podataka izračunate su vrijednosti konstanti brzine reakcije prema predloženom kinetičkom modelu reakcije te srednja kvadratna odstupanja. Uočeno je dobro slaganje modela i eksperimenta. Dan je i kratki osvrt na statističko planiranje, odnosno dizajn eksperimenta. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su da je pri uvjetima korištenim u ovom radu početna koncentracija onečišćivala najutjecajniji parametar fotokatalitičke razgradnje. Najveća konverzija i najveća konstanta brzine kemijske reakcije zabilježeni su u slučaju eksperimenta s najmanjom ispitivanom koncentracijom acetamiprida (2 ppm), srednjom koncentracijom katalizatora (0,06 g) te pri pH vrijednosti 8. Najlošija razgradnja onečišćivala uočena je za eksperiment s istom masom katalizatora, ali pri pH 4 te najvećoj ispitivanoj početnoj koncentraciji acetamiprida (10 ppm).

Abstract (english)

With the increase in pesticide production and use, recently, concerns about the potentially harmful effects of pesticides on the ecosystem have been growing. Wastewater, in which pesticides can often be found, is treated by numerous methods. Advanced oxidation processes are a good alternative to classical water purification methods. One of these processes is heterogeneous photocatalysis. The aim of this study was to investigate the photocatalytic degradation of neonicotinoids in aqueous solution. Acetamiprid, a widely used insecticide, was used as a model component. The experiment was performed in an annular suspension reactor, using a modified TiO2 catalyst and a UV-A lamp as a radiation source. According to the experimental design, the effect of pH (4,6,8), pollutant concentration (2,6,10 ppm) and catalyst mass (0.04, 0.06, 0.08 g) on acetamiprid conversion was examined. The degradation course of acetamiprid was monitored by high performance liquid chromatography. From the obtained experimental data, the values of the reaction rate constants were calculated and finally the kinetic model of the reaction was proposed. Calculated RMSD values imply a good fit of the model. A brief overview of statistical planning (the design of the experiment) is also given. The results of the study showed that the initial concentration of pollutant is the most influential factor on the photocatalytic degradation process. The highest conversion and the highest rate constant of the chemical reaction were recorded in the case of the experiment with the lowest tested concentration of acetamiprid (2 ppm), the average concentration of catalyst (0.06 g) and at pH 8. The worst degradation was observed for the experiment with the same catalyst mass, but at pH 4 and the highest tested initial concentration of acetamiprid (10 ppm).
