Abstract

Zbog problematike korištenja hlapljivih organskih otapala u procesima proizvodnje, sve se veća pažnja posvećuje eutektičkim smjesama kao ekološki prihvatljivim otapalima, sličnim ionskim kapljevinama po mnogim karakteristikama i svojstvima. U ovom radu teoretski se obrađuju pojam i klasifikacija eutektičkih smjesa te njihova primjena i fizikalna svojstva. Eksperimentalni dio rada obuhvaća karakterizaciju prirodnih eutektičkih smjesa (NADES, Natural deep eutectic solvents) koje se sastoje isključivo od prirodnih komponenti nastalih metabolizmom stanice. Određuju se fizikalna svojstva poput gustoće, indeksa loma, viskoznosti, vodljivosti i pH vrijednosti unaprijed pripremljenih devet razrijeđenih eutektičkih smjesa u rasponu temperatura od 15 do 55 °C (osim za gustoću koja je za sva otapala određena pri 25 °C). Korištene su tri vrste eutektičkih smjesa, kolin klorid – malična kiselina (ChCl-Ma), betain – malična kiselina (B-Ma), malična kiselina – glukoza – glicerol (Ma-Glu-Gly) pripremljene sa 10, 30 i 50 % masenog udjela vode. Razmatrane su ovisnosti viskoznosti o temperaturi, a utvrđeno je da eksponencijalno opadaju sa povećanjem sadržaja vode te povećanjem temperature u eutektičkim smjesama. Električna vodljivost usko je povezana uz viskoznost pa tako kad viskoznost opada, vodljivost raste. Mjerenjem pH vrijednosti uočeno je kako su sve tri razrijeđene eutektičke smjese kisele. Promjena gustoće i indexa loma bilježe linearan pad za promatrane eutektičke smjese kako maseni udio vode raste.

Abstract (english)

Due to the problem with the usage of volatile organic solvents in the industry, more attention is placed on eutectic mixtures as environmentally acceptable solvents, which are similiar to ionic liquids in many characteristics and properties. This paper discusses the theoretical concept and classification of eutectic mixtures, their application and physical properties. The experimental part includes the characterization of natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES, Natural deep eutectic solvents) that consist exclusively of natural components produced by cell metabolism. Physical properties such as density, refractive index, viscosity, conductivity and pH of nine diluted eutectic mixtures in the temperature range from 15 to 55 °C were determined (except for the density which is determined for all of the solvents at 25 °C). Three kinds of eutectic mixtures were used, choline chloride - malic acid (CHCl-Ma), betaine - malic acid (B-Ma), malic acid - Glucose - glycerol (Ma-Gly-Glu) prepared with 10, 30 and 50% in water mass. Dependence of viscosity on temperature was noticed, and it is determined that viscosity exponentially decreases with increasing water content and temperature. Electrical conductivity is closely related to viscosity and thus when the viscosity decreases, conductivity increases. By measuring the pH value, it was noted that all three dilute eutectic mixtures were acidic. Density and the refractive index showed a linear decrease as moisture content increases.
