Abstract

Ograničene količine nafte i fosilnih goriva te razni politički, gospodarski i ekonomski interesi bitan su čimbenik u pronalaženju i uporabi novih alternativnih i obnovljivih izvora energije. Tekuća biogoriva su zanimljiva alternativa za goriva mineralnog podrijetla zbog svojih mnogih prednosti. Biodizel, kao alternativno pogonsko gorivo za dizelske motore, predstavlja biorazgradivo, neotrovno i ekološki prihvatljivo gorivo koje bi trebalo zamijeniti ili barem smanjiti uporabu fosilnih goriva. Također, biodizel se proizvodi iz obnovljivih izvora energije kao što su biljna i otpadna ulja te životinjske masti. Ovaj rad daje pregled sinteze biodizela iz otpadnih ulja (suncokretovo i palmino) pomoću kemijskog procesa bazično katalizirane transesterifikacije te pročišćavanja konačnog produkta procesom ekstrakcije pomoću ekološki prihvatljivih eutektičkih otapala. Provođenjem eksperimenta te obradom rezultata odabrano je najefikasnije eutektičko otapalo za ekstrakciju glicerola iz dobivenog biodizela.

Abstract (english)

Limited quantities of petroleum and fossil fuels in combination with various political and economical interests are an important factor in finding and using new alternative and renewable energy resources. Liquid biofuels are an interesting alternative for mineral fuels because of their many advantages. Biodiesel, as an alternative fuel for diesel engines represents biodegradable, non-toxic and eco-friendly fuel which should replace or at least reduce the usage of fossil fuels. Also, biodiesel is produced from renewable sources of energy such as vegetable and waste oils and animal fats. This article gives a review of biodiesel synthesis from waste cooking oils (sunflower and palm waste cooking oil) by alkali-catalyzed transesterification and purification of final product by extraction using eco-friendly deep eutectical solvents (DES). Based on the obtained experimental data and their analysis the most efficient deep eutectical solvent was chosen as the selective solvent for extraction of glycerol from synthesized biodiesel.
