Abstract

Cilj ovoga rada bio je pripremiti i karakterizirati LDPE/PCL mješavine u različitim omjerima te odrediti utjecaj vremena UV razgradnje na svojstva mješavina. Karakterizacija LDPE/PCL mješavina napravljena je s naglaskom na toplinska svojstva mješavina. Mješavine polietilena niske gustoće (LDPE) i polikaprolaktona (PCL) pripravljene su u različitim omjerima: 100/0, 90/10, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70, 10/90 i 0/100 mas %. LDPE/PCL mješavine pripravljene su umješavanjem u laboratorijskoj gnjetilici Brabender. Uzorci čistih polimera i mješavina dobiveni su prešanjem na hidrauličkoj preši. Uzorci čistih LDPE i PCL te LDPE/PCL mješavina u različitim omjerima bili su izloženi UV zračenju deset, dvadeset i trideset dana. Karakterizacija toplinskih svojstava LDPE/PCL mješavina provedena je tehnikom termogravimetrijske analize (TGA). Struktura mješavina prije izlaganja UV zračenju te nakon deset i trideset dana zračenja određena je kombiniranom tehnikom infracrvene spektroskopije s Fourierovim transformacijama (FT-IR) i prigušene totalne refleksije (ATR). Toplinska stabilnost mješavina smanjuje se povećanjem udjela PCL. To se da zaključiti iz činjenice da se temperatura početka razgradnje pomiče prema nižim temperaturama dodatkom PCL.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this work was to preparation and characterization of LDPE/PCL blends under different LDPE/PCL content and to determine the effect of UV degradation time on the properties of the blends. The characterization of LDPE/PCL blends was made under accent on thermal properties. Blends of low density polyethylene and polycaprolactone were made in different LDPE/PCL content: 100/0, 90/10, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70, 10/90 and 0/100 wt %. LDPE/PCL blends were prepared with melt mixing in laboratory Brabender mixer. The specimens of neat polymers and LDPE/PCL blends were molded in hydraulic press. The specimens of neat polymers and LDPE/PCL blends were exposed to UV irradiation for 10 and 30 days. The thermal properties of neat LDPE, neat PCL and LDPE/PCL blends were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The changes in the structure of the blends were investigated before exposure to UV irradiation and after 10 and 30 days of UV exposure time by combined technique of Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR). The thermal stability of the blends decreases with increase of the PCL content. That can be concluded from the fact that the temperature of beginning of degradation is shifted to lower temperatures by the increase of PCL content.
